A little trip to South Korea

July 15, 2007 at 6:58 am (Photography, Travel)

Within a week of landing on the island of Okinawa, I was packing my bags and getting ready for a deployment to the Republic of Korea (RoK) for a month or so. While not a very exciting trip in itself, it did open my eyes even more to how amazingly lucky we Americans are with the lifestyles we lead. The country itself was amazing and full of life, and the people were wonderful to work with. Aside from the fact that most my photos got lost in a glitch with my old camera, it was a fairly nice trip. Here are a few photos from the trip over on the boat (which allowed me to see an amazing sunset at sea) and a few of my other favorites.

Korea, itself, is a very fast paced, jam-packed nation. It shows everywhere from the supermarket to the city streets.

Unfortunatley, due to technolog hating me, I have very few pictures of this country. Here are a few parting shots of the group I was with and I getting ready to leave on the boat.

And the boat. Our escape, if you will.

Summer Camp ‘05

July 12, 2007 at 5:43 am (Photography)

Being in the occupation I was in at the time, it was inevitable for me to visit the Middle East at least one time. I was able to take a few photographs during my little trip.

The sunrises and sunsets were amazing during the summer. During one particular week, we had a fire near by in the local fields, adding an amazing dynamic to the colors in the sky. Overall, the dry air, lack of pollution, and amazing amounts of dust lead to some spectacular sites.

I was able to work near the flight line, giving me a closer than normal perspective on the aircraft we had on the ground. The first is of a medavac helicopter taking off after dropping off supplies, and the next are helicopters taxiing down the line.

Overall, I was able to work with an amazing group of guys that I would not hesitate to call my friends. Some of them have returned for another “session” of summer camp, while others have continued on with their lives. These guys were some of the greatest I have ever, and probably will ever, work along side.

And with that, I sign off. Here is a cheers to you.
